With these Guidelines, the Bystronic Group complies with the current legal requirements. 1. Definition of cookies

Cookies are small text files that are saved temporarily or permanently on the hard drive of the visitor's computer when visiting the Bystronic Group's website. The information remains stored on the hard drive even if the visitor proceeds to another website. This allows the visitor's computer to be recognized, which is useful for the further navigation of the visitor on the website. 

Cookies do not harm the computer. They can only store information that is provided by the browser, i.e. information that the visitor entered into the browser himself/herself or that is available on the website. 

2. Use of cookies

Mandatory cookies are required to ensure the functionality of the Bystronic Group's website. They do not require the explicit consent of the website visitors. 

Non-mandatory cookies are very useful, because they enhance the user-friendliness for returning website visitors. They require the explicit consent of the website visitors. Thanks to non-mandatory cookies, it is possible to show whether a visitor has previously visited the website of the Bystronic Group. They make it possible to determine which pages of the website are potentially most interesting for the visitor. In addition, by storing the visitor's preferences during his/her visit to the website of the Bystronic Group, the visitor's online experience is enhanced. In particular, the purpose of non-mandatory cookies is also to analyze the use of the website in order to permit statistical evaluations and the continuous improvement of contents, products and services. 

The website of the Bystronic Group may also use similar methods, such as pixels, web beacons, etc. For reasons of consistency, all these methods are referred to collectively as "cookies". 

3. Types of cookies

3.1 Bystronic Gruppe cookies

    These cookies enable visitors to navigate the website and access certain necessary functions, for example saving products that a user adds to his/her shopping cart during the online purchase process, or providing the option to save login data in order to ensure future access. In addition, these cookies are used to collect anonymous statistical information about how visitors use the website. This information also allows the Bystronic Group to optimize the website's functionality.  

    The Bystronic Group does not use mandatory cookies.

    In particular, the Bystronic Group uses the following non-mandatory cookies:

3.2 Third-party cookies

When visiting a website that is linked to the website of the Bystronic Group, for example social media platforms, YouTube channels, or advertising networks, these websites may also use cookies. The Bystronic Group has no control over these cookies. Hence, the Bystronic Group recommends that visitors check which cookies are used by third-party websites and how they are administered. In particular, the Bystronic Group uses the following third-party cookies:

    In the fields of web analysis and advertising, the Bystronic Group works together with Google Analytics. Google Analytics also uses cookies. Based on the data saved in its cookies, Google Analytics can determine which pages, products, and services were viewed, in order to display appropriate advertisements. The cookies from Google Analytics do not save any personal data. In particular, the Bystronic Group uses the following cookies from Google Analytics:

      • Google Analytics _ga, Distinguish unique users, two years
      • Google Analytics _gat, Throttle the request rate, ten minutes

3.3 Temporary cookies

  • Temporary cookies save information that is used during the visitor's current browser session. A session ID is assigned to the visitor, in order to ensure that the visitor can move between the various areas of the Bystronic Group's website without interruptions. These session IDs are also used for internal reporting purposes. These session IDs do not allow the visitor to be identified as a person. This type of cookie does not leave any retrievable information on the visitor's hard drive. Once the browser is closed, these cookies are automatically deleted. The following Bystronic Group cookies are temporary cookies:

    • Web server, storage of visit data during a session, session duration
    • Picturepark, ASP.NET_SessionId, session  

3.4 Permanent cookies

Permanent cookies save information between two visits to the website. These cookies are used in order to improve the recognition and regular evaluation of visitor patterns over a longer period of time and to allow additional functions to be offered, which site visitors requested in connection with the personalization of the website and with saved contents. They can be saved on the computer for a period of just a few minutes or up to several years, depending on the function to which they contribute. 

The Bystronic Group does not use permanent cookies.

4.1 Activate, deactivate, or delete cookies 

All web browsers provide the possibility to activate, deactivate, or delete the use of cookies by configuring the settings or preferences of the browser accordingly. The necessary steps vary depending on the browser.  If cookies are completely or partially disabled or deleted, some of the functions of the website may no longer be available.  Visitors who do not use one of the following web browsers can find additional information in the browser documentation or on the online help pages. 

4.2 Internet Explorer

  • Click the option "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy" in the browser window. The privacy protection setting should not exceed medium, in order for the cookies to be activated in the browser. Setting the privacy protection higher than "medium" prevents cookies from being saved.  
  • In order to delete cookies, under "Internet Options" first select the tab "General" and then "Browser History". Click on "Delete". 

4.3 Google Chrome

  • In order to allow cookies, click on the Chrome menu symbol in the top right corner of the browser window and select "Settings". Then click successively on the options "Display Advanced Settings", "Privacy", "Content Settings" and "Cookies" and finally "Allow storage of local data".
  • In order to deactivate cookies, check the boxes in front of the options "Block storage of data for all websites", "Block third-party cookies and website data", and "Delete data after closing the browser".

4.4 Mozilla Firefox

  • To enable cookies, in the top right corner of the browser window click the "Menu" symbol and choose "Options". Select the "Privacy" panel. Set "Firefox will:" to "Use custom settings for history" and tick the box next to "Accept cookies from sites". In order to deactivate cookies, follow the same procedure and then remove the tick from the box.
  • To delete cookies, click the "Menu" symbol in the top right corner of the browser window and select "Options". Select the "Privacy" panel and set "Firefox will:" to "Use custom settings for history", then click "Show cookies" and then the "Remove all cookies" button. 

4.5 Safari

  • At the top of the browser window, click "Safari", and choose "Preferences", then click "Privacy" and select a "Cookies and website data" option. To enable cookies, select the "Always allow" option.
  • To disable cookies, select the "Always block" option. 
  • To delete all stored cookies, click on "Remove all website data" next to the “Cookies and other website data” option and confirm by clicking on “Remove now”.

6. Final provisions

The Bystronic Group reserves the right to change the content of the Cookie Guidelines at any time and without prior notice. The new Cookie Guidelines apply from the date of their publication. When first visiting the website after the updated Cookie Guidelines have been published, the visitor will be made aware of the changes and must give his/her renewed consent to the use of cookies. 

Swiss law is applicable with the exclusion of the rules regulating conflict of laws of the Swiss Federal Act governing Private International Law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Niederönz, Switzerland.
